Grammatical accuracy is necessary not only for good writing but for anything called writing because its absence make sentences vague and thus the goal of writing is not achieved.Whatever the writer wants to convey becomes incomprehensible to the reader.
Thus, whenever writing ,it shud always be seen through the eyes of a reader and not writer coz then only thoughts can be expressed properly.
Also sentences shud be kept as short and simple as possible without burdening them with heavy vocab, concentrating mainly on the flow of thoughts.
And here's again where grammar plays its role....Even a fullstop or comma matters.Their misplacement or absence can change the entire meaning of the statement! Also the tense of the statement should remain the same throughout. If it is past it has to be past throughout,if present ,then present. One cn'nt write them off as minor considerations saying ,"It's jst a mail and not an essay writing competition!"
Remember vocab and grammar are two different things.Vocab improves automatically as one reads more, but grammar,it has to be worked on....And the more one learns, the more one learns that one has to learn a lot!!!!
Learning a new word or phrase is meaningless untill one learns the correct usage alsoo and that comes with looking up into the dictionary; not only to check out the meaning of the word but also to see its usage.Ideally, finding a new word should be followed with three things: checking out the meaning, looking out for the pronounciation(for that one must luk out 4 phonetic symbols) and last but not the least seeing the usage.
